"You were only meant to blow the
bloody door off!"
Dorothy pays homage to probably one of the greatest chase films ever; the Italian Job.
This 13 day hotel based tour will see us cross northern Europe, taking in classic roads along the way, with our ultimate destination being the Lingotto Fiat factory, location of the famous roof top race track and now a hotel, where we'll be based for two nights.
We'll meet bright and early on 5th in Folkestone for the Chanel tunnel, before starting the journey proper from Calais. We will take in some of the finest motorcycling roads that Western Europe has to offer. With notable highlights such as the Black Forest, Stelvio Pass, San Bernardino pass, Grimsel pass, Furka pass to name but a few.
Once in Turin we will be staying the Lingotto Hotel, home of the original Fiat factory, where we can take time to explore Turin and some of the Iconic locations of the Italian job.
We then start to wend our way home again via amazing roads, with a drop off in Le Mans to ride the famous Mulsanne Straight, before catching our ferry home out of Caen.
This tour is led by David and Julian, who will be on hand to help you enjoy this memorable trip.
A fully detailed guide and GPX file to be sent two weeks before departure. There are a couple of 240 mile days (most are around 200 miles), with technical but rewarding roads as we reach the Alps. As such, it is best suited to those who have travelled on the Continent before.
WHEN
The tour will depart 9.20am from Channel Tunnel terminal in Folkstone on 5th July, returning back 18th July into Portsmouth.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
The price includes all hotels on a B&B basis, GPX routing and support on the road. Please note this is not a fully guided tour. Riders are expected to be able to self navigate.
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED
The tour does not include food, fuel, travel insurance and spending money. Breakdown insurance is strongly advised. There is no back up vehicle on this tour.
TYPE OF RIDING
Having reached the Alps, the riding will be mountainous and twisty. The reason for the self navigation system is that it allows all riders to ride their own pace as well as ride with others in the group who share a similar style of riding. Stop when you want, ride your own pace, with the focus on getting there safely.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You'll need a full motorcycle licence and road legal machine. Bikes capable of reaching and maintaining road legal speeds are advised. Anything over 400cc will be fine. Again, self navigation allows for smaller bikes to ride at a pace suitable for them.
