The Road to Merzouga
A fly ride option for Morocco
Morocco is a great place to ride but it can be a hassle getting there and back in a manageable length of time.
For 2025 we trialled a fly ride option, landing in Marrakesh, with a fleet of bikes there to greet us, giving us 7 great days to roam this great country. The riding will be largely Tarmac based, with some broken road and light gravel to keep us on our toes, but this is not classed as a trail tour. We feel that there's enough excitement and quality of riding on the Tarmac to not run the higher risk on the remote trail sections. For anyone interested in that type of trip, check out Chris Scott and his excellent Trans Moroccan Trail route.
This trip will start and finish in Marrakesh (flights not included), on Friday 12th March and finish back in Marracken on Friday 19th March. Feel free to fly in early and explore, or stay on at the end. Accommodation on a twin share basis (single upgrade available), will be included from Thursday 11th to Thursday 18th.
Accommodation is comfortable and clean - generally local riads - sometimes with a pool, but always with breakfast and dinner an extra cost at around 15 Euros per night.
There will be a choice of either the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 or CF Moto 450 MT, with a £100 uplift for the latter. Luggage will go in the support truck so need to worry about carrying your spare underpants. You'll just need a means of navigation - phone, GPX - as this trip sticks to Dorothy Speed Shop formula of self navigation in small groups and solo, with support bringing up the rear. This gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, stop when you want and take in the experience.
This trip would suit riders who have done some overseas riding before (although not entirely necessary as long as riders are confident), and who are keen to immerse themselves in new cultures and riding environments. Riders must be prepared to ride in hot climates and deal with the differences of everyday interactions. Riders must be aware of their own riding limitations and acknowledge that this is a tour through often remote parts of a country that doesn't have the emergency response services that we are used to.
This trip will challenge you, surprise you and showcase a country that never fails to deliver.
Further route details will follow (but think mountains and deserts), but for now, expressions of interest and £250 deposits are being taken to secure your place. Please contact us through the form at the bottom of the site to note your interest.
