WHAT IS IT?
The Adventure Country Tracks is a European initiative sponsored by Touratech with routes through Greece, Portugal, Romania, Pyrenees, Italy and now the UK taking in approximately 30% trail and 70% Tarmac. It's designed for larger capacity adventure machines, with the UK route starting in Wales in the Brecon Breacons, and finishing five days later in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Whitby. Along the way it takes in the Isle of Man and the Yorkshire Dales.

FOR A FULL RUNDOWN OF THE UK ROUTE PLEASE SEE HERE

With permission from the UK route coordinator, Jonathan Bentman, this is a supported ride of that UK route, offering a mix of bunkhouse and camping accommodation, ferry bookings to and from the Isle of Man and a support van to carry luggage and help with any stricken machines.

Riders will need to have had some off road experience and be able to pick up their own machine. This trip is ideally suited to those riding adventure bikes in the sub 47bhp A2 category or those taking part in the Grand Challenge on light usable machines. I will be guiding the trip on my Honda CD185 Benly. The trail sections make up around 30% of the route. There will always be opportunity for a rider to circumnavigate these sections if needed/preferred.

To avoid any confusion, this tour has no official connection to the ACT organisers and the full route can be downloaded for a nominal fee of approx. £10 at the ACT website:
www.adventurecountrytracks.com

HOW MUCH?

The cost per person is £495 with a £50 deposit.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Included in the price is six nights' accommodation (bunkhouse and camping including Monday night in Brecon Beacons YHA ready for Tuesday morning set off), ferries to and from the Isle of Man and use of the support vehicle for daily luggage carry, and in the event of a breakdown where a bike will be recovered to that night's stopover. Breakdown cover is advised in case your bike needs to be recovered home.

PLEASE NOTE: The viability of the van is based on 6 or more riders. A surcharge of £50 may be required if the attending number is below that. A fully refundable deposit (up to a month prior to the trip) of £50 is required to secure your place.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?

The price doesn't include fuel, food and other travel related expenditure.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

You'll need a well serviced and road worthy bike, ideally prepped for some trail riding action. Knobbly tyres required and crash protection advised. This route would be suitable for Himalayan, CRF, and smaller light bikes featuring in the Grand Challenge such as Honda CG125 or C90.

It would also be strongly advised that you bring tools specific to your own machine, as well as basic puncture repair equipment. The van will also carry some basic tools.

You'll also need basic camping gear - tent, sleeping bag, pillow and mat - and some waterproofs, just in case of rain (likely!). Accommodation will be a mix of camping and bunkhouse.
